TechSite was hired by Porter Wright to perform a study to compare construction of a new data center versus relocation of their data center systems to a colocation facility. The analysis initially reviewed and documented their existing data center. A team of TechSite engineers visited their Columbus, Ohio corporate location and evaluated the electrical, mechanical and architectural infrastructure of the existing server room in addition to the base building support systems. TechSite then evaluated other available spaces within their corporate building to select a best fit location for the replacement data center.
Following a location selection, TechSite created a report which included conceptual design space plans, electrical one lines and budgets to compare various options for the new facility. TechSite then evaluated seventeen (17) prominent local colocation facilities. TechSite and Porter Wright worked together to create a list of critical requirements for a colocation facility. TechSite developed fact-finding surveys incorporating this information. The surveys were distributed and responses collected.
For the top three (3) colocation finalists, TechSite created a Request for Quotation for Porter Wright and obtained pricing from the colocation companies. Ultimately, TechSite created a report that allowed Porter Wright to compare the available scenarios and make informed decisions on the future of their data center facility.
Porter Wright’s ultimate decision was to replace their data center with a new one in their corporate office. TechSite was selected to perform the engineering design and create construction documents for the project. After the project was approved for construction, TechSite served as the owner’s representative and provided construction administration services for the new facility.
