TechSite was the Commissioning Authority for a new 32,500 square foot data center in a 113,000 square foot facility being built in Northeastern Ohio. The intent for this project is to attain a LEED certification. TechSite worked with the Owner, Owner's Representative, Construction Manager and Building Contractors throughout the entire design and construction process, providing technical expertise as well as developing and executing an entire building commissioning plan. The objective of this commissioning plan is to validate the installation and both individual and integrated functionality of the new data center, building infrastructure, mechanical and electrical systems as compared to the owner's Basis of Design.
The commissioning plan was developed over several iterations with comprehensive reviews. Functional and integrated operations of all critical components including the building monitoring system will be analyzed under simulated extreme conditions. In addition to testing the data center and associated critical and emergency infrastructure, validation of the building HVAC systems, Plumbing systems, Fuel Oil System and Lighting systems are included.
In December of 2011, several TechSite team members were on site for eight consecutive weeks working with the building contractors to execute the commissioning plans. Follow up testing occurred last summer to complete building testing under seasonable conditions. Last fall the project received the news that it had qualified for the LEED SIlver Rating under New Construction and Major Renovations.
