Service: TECH SITE has assisted with a variety of projects for UPMC. We performed mechanical and electrical engineering services for the original 8,500 square foot Forbes Tower Data Center project. TECH SITE assisted with multiple physical expansions of the Data Center over the next few years. We have provided engineering services for several other projects at UPMC Forbes Tower, including the creation of a dual bus power system and the expansion of the glycol-cooled air conditioning systems. The dual bus power project included creation of matched pairs of PDUs, the addition of a new 1,000 kVA UPS, installation of a new 2,000 kW generator, and a new electrical service. The computer room air conditioning systems were connected to both sides of the dual bus to eliminate single points of failure. TECH SITE provided construction documents including drawings and detailed specifications for each of these projects. In addition, TECH SITE provided construction-monitoring services during each build to ensure that the Owners needs were met.

TECH SITE has also been involved in major upgrades to UPMC's secondary data center in Pittsburgh. This data center was originally 3,300 square foot. Recently TECH SITE provided electrical and mechanical engineering services to expand and upgrade the facility to 6,335 square foot raised floor with a (N+1) 600 kW Flywheel UPS system and (N+1) 1000 kW Diesel Generators.

Service: UPMC contracts TECH SITE yearly to assist in the development and implementation of testing and commissioning for UPMC's primary data center at Forbes Tower. TECH SITE prepares a detailed method of procedure that outlines each test which will be performed along with step by step instructions for performing the test and recording test data. When implemented the method of procedure allows UPMC and TECH SITE to identify any potential problems with the critical infrastructure during a known maintenance window. Following the annual test TECH SITE prepares a report summarizing any test findings.

TECH SITE also provides annual consulting and engineering service for UPMC to assist with the ongoing maintenance and strategic planning for their multiple data center facilities. This annual process includes risk assessment and associated planning for required equipment modifications to maintain the data center facilities. TECH SITE provides UPMC with detailed capital budgets and documentation to support and prioritize the various recommendations developed.
