Technology Site Planners Facilities Program

TECH SITE’S Facilities Program is the most efficient and cost effective method to modify your specialized environmental support systems.

The three phases are:Technology Site Planners Conference
PHASE 1 : Evaluation
Conceptual Design and Budgeting

At the heart of this process is our interactive design approach. We solicit and encourage your input in the design of your critical facility. During this phase, we analyze and report on the existing conditions of your facility, prepare conceptual design options, and provide preliminary budgets for your consideration. In order to prepare the conceptual design and preliminary budgets, we will solicit input from your organization related to current and future needs, as well as review and consider the following criteria:
  • Hardware Plan
  • Redundancy Requirements
  • Future Growth Plan
  • Time Line for Construction
  • Ancillary Space Needs
  • Monitoring and Security
  • Local Codes & Construction Requirements
  • Power Capacity and Quality
  • Electric Power Distribution, Conditioning & Grounding
  • Heating/Ventilating/Air Conditioning
  • Raised/Access Flooring
  • Fire Detection and Suppression
  • Architectural Design
  • Cable Management
  • Specialized Furniture
Once the analysis of your requirements is organized, we work directly with you to layout the room. We utilize our extensive “symbols” library containing thousands of database records of computer equipment and environmental support systems equipment. Our expert design team works with you in placing the equipment symbols to assure an efficient layout. Requirements such as service access and clearances will be considered. Standard two dimensional floor plans and three-dimensional line drawings or renderings can be created to assist you in your layout decisions.

For your convenience, we can perform design activities either at our office or at your facility with the use of our portable CADD system.

Today’s "mission critical" facility can be designed with a highly reliable support systems infrastructure that will provide up to 99.995% availability. TECH SITE will design and recommend electrical and mechanical systems that will meet your requirements and budgets. We will present support systems infrastructure options in the form of several one-line diagrams as part of the Conceptual Design Phase. The analysis of your requirements and the conceptual design and budgets are organized into a Conceptual Design and Budget Report. This document, along with the layout and electrical one-line diagrams, will summarize your objectives and requirements. It will provide descriptions of the different conceptual design options, including advantages and disadvantages of each option (along with any financial ramifications). Specific topics in the report include: a facility review summary; a hardware profile for both power and cooling; a customer decision list with our recommendations; room layout drawings; conceptual electrical one-line; estimated budgets; and a tentative project schedule.

PHASE TWO: Engineering
Detailed Design, Analysis, and Drawings

Once the plan outlined in the Conceptual Design and Budget Report is approved, we can proceed with the detailed design phase of the project. We produce the design calculations and drawings required to build your facility to meet your needs, and code requirements. The engineering analysis will include, where applicable, the following areas:
  • ELECTRICAL
    • Load Calculation
    • Computer Power Requirements
    • Lighting Panel Requirements
    • UPS System Design
    • Dual Power Source
    • (Redundant) Systems
    • Computer Power Conditioning And Distribution Design
    • Computer Power Grounding Design
    • Emergency Power Generation Design
    • Voice and Data Communications Cabling Strategy

  • MECHANICAL
    • Load Calculations
    • HVAC System Design
    • Equipment Selection and Sizing
    • Building System Considerations
    • Plumbing and Drainage

  • ARCHITECTURAL
    • Space Planning - Hardware
    • Room Layout - Ancillary Areas
    • Structural Consideration
    • Raised Flooring Design
    • Emergency Exit and Egress Path
    • Lighting Design
    • Wall Construction/Fire Rating
    • Sound Attenuation
    • Ceiling Construction
    • Integration with Overall Building/Features

  • MONITORING
    • Monitoring Strategy
    • Equipment Monitoring
    • Remote Monitoring
    • Emergency Procedures

  • LIFE SAFETY SYSTEMS
    • Emergency Power Off System Design
    • Battery Room Eye Wash and Shower
    • Emergency Communications
    • Integration of Building Evacuation Systems
    • Integration of Building Fire Alarm System
    • Pre-Action Systems

  • FIRE PROTECTION
    • Fire Protection Strategy
    • Sprinkler Layout
    • Early Detection
    • FM-200 Design and Layout

  • SECURITY
    • Security Plan
    • Door Access Control
    • Levels of Protection

During the design phase, our staff of licensed engineers prepare stamped drawings, equipment specifications, and construction specifications for all of the above areas. These drawings and specifications serve to meet the required building codes and will allow accurate pricing by the involved trades and equipment suppliers.

PHASE THREE: Implementation
Technology Site Planners Conference Construction of the Facility

Once the design is complete, the construction process is ready to begin. Our construction process provides the fastest and least expensive way of getting your facility built on time and on budget.

As specialists for “mission critical” facilities, TECH SITE provides critical path planning to prioritize and stream-line the design-build process.

TECH SITE identifies long lead time equipment and places this equipment on order at the earliest appropriate point in the schedule to accelerate the date that you obtain your facility.

TECH SITE accepts complete responsibility for functionality and integrity of the facility. More often than not, projects involve the enhancement of an existing facility. Extreme care must be taken to ensure that critical systems remain on-line during the construction process.

TECH SITE’s highly experienced team of experts will produce detailed Method of Procedures (MOP) to limit risks associated with incorporating new systems at a critical facility.

In addition to construction management, we test the installation and provide training for your personnel. The aspects of our construction process are outlined below:
  • Pricing of Trades and Support Equipment
  • Equipment Selection
  • Contractor Selection
  • Project Scheduling
  • Construction Supervisor
  • Method of Procedure (MOP)
  • Quality Control
  • Complete Systems Testing
  • Verification to Specifications
  • Code Inspections
  • Final Equipment Adjustments
  • Facilities Operations Manuals
  • Facility "As-Built" Drawings
  • Operator Training
